Do you have an open mind?
How many times have I heard this, how many times have I been accused of lacking it. Is this the last resource for those without an argument?
What is having an open mind? Is it accepting the way people choose to live by breaking moral rules and social standards? How about being open minded about those who choose to live the opposite? Does it only count when lot’s of drinking, sex, etc.. or does it apply when celibacy is the lifestyle taken? Why can’t “open mindness” be applied to those who chose to not move with the moral steps society takes? Against the current, against what is easier, against what is even logical, staying behind… can you be open minded about that?
Let’s take it to a different level: Open mind; as in being more open to new experiences and ways of thinking. Being open mind about experiencing God and letting him change you, accepting those who think this way, and those who simply don’t.
People can help what they live and who they become by the choices they make… what they can’t control are the consequences that come with the choices made. Live and let live.. each one will have consequences to face.. Isn’t that enough to take up most of you time anyways?

Umm I don’t know. The people that don’t move are conservationist it’s the eternal fight between new and old. Those who move are open minded because they are not blind by the past, those who don’t move are closed because they can’t go beyond what they there taught.

Move? Move where and how? Move as the rest of the world is moving? In some aspects, that’s just being ordinary and part of the mob.
How about taking it all in, and choosing how and where to move..
When something is distinctly not as good as it could be, it is mediocre..past, present or future…
is that having a open mind?

The issue with being open minded is that it is possible that people will want to put stupid stuff there.
You need to be open-minded in order to be able to advance stuff in your life, but you need to be selectively open about it.

Being open minded = being open to new experiences… but there are some new experiences that might become bad experiences, so be careful.

Let me guess, someone recently accused you of having a “closed” or “narrow” train of thought. I’ll even go as far as to predict that it was a result of a religious or conservationist discussion.
Having an open mind has nothing to do with being part of the “mob” as you call it. It has nothing to do with excess of alcohol and sex. It has nothing to do with losing your values and accepting values that you feel are alien to yours.
It’s as simple as being willing to give consideration to ideas which are not yours. Even if these ideas contradict your fundamental beliefs. This is actually a very good exercise which leads to more agile thinking, better decision making and better appreciation of life. Humans have the bad habit of fleeing to denial when someone endangers their comfortable way of living. This way of living is composed of many things, including ones way of thought.
On a lighter note, I didn’t know you had a blog! Did you plan to keep it a secret from me?! Bad, bad girl!

Late as always, let me just say that like Melvin said, it is dependent on whether you want to try something out or not.
To me, there is no such thing as an open mind, it’s a reflex of how we value others and ourselves.
I tend not to pay attention to what other people are doing as long as they don’t affect me directly, to some that is having an open mind, because if there are two guys making out, I just don’t care it’s their problem, not mine. On the other hand, I’m closed minded because I wont try drugs.
So in the end is subjective to each individual, and in some cases moral, and values instilled in us, during our life.
To be honest, I put very little value at what people think about me, for better or worst. I just try to live my life to the best of my abilities, being the best human being I can be. In the end I think that is what matters.

Having or showing receptiveness to new and different ideas or the opinions of others…..that’s the definition of open minded…sorry, your not open minded, your just different. You are just different from other people and their trends and values.
I think is better to be different and value what you believe rather than being open minded…That´s being unique.
